But I want to keep trying. I know that no one reads the blog so maybe I should just make it private and turn it into a journal, but for right now I'll try a few more posts and hope to get some incentive. A nice comment on one of my other posts brought me back today and I'm going to try again.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">My painting buddy moved away late last year and it seems to have affected me more than I expected. I'm just now beginning to want to paint again. I have not really done much painting in quite a few months. So the paintings I'm posting will not be totally recent. But next week is dedicated to painting. I WILL PAINT!!!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This painting was done last year in a workshop with Soon Y. Warren, an extraordinary watercolor artist. I can't say that this is an original since it was done from one of her photos that she provided for the class. But I did do the painting, so it's my version. Because it was someone else's photo, my painting won't ever be entered into a competition but that doesn't keep me from being proud of it and happy with the way it turned out.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I give you "Fantasy Cat", 16" x 20" watercolor on 140 lb Arches watercolor paper.
I'm very honored to have received both of these awards.
I've done demos and taught classes in polymer clay and handmade books but since I consider myself a beginning painter I was a little nervous. But this group of people was so warm and friendly that I immediately forgot about being nervous and totally enjoyed myself. The type of painting that I do is a little unusual and is called "pouring'. I literally pour the paint onto the watercolor paper. I use a lot, and I mean LOT, of masking fluid and find this way of painting works so well for me. Anyway, I prepared a series of semi-finished pieces so I could demonstrate the technique without subjecting the attendees to having to watch paint or masking fluid dry. The unveiling of the painting at the end of the demo (a lot of the painting gets hidden under masking fluid) brought forth a lot of "oohs" and "aahs" so I think I did something right. And they asked a lot of questions which showed me they were really interested. After the demo I took the painting home and did about 45 minutes to an hour's worth of touch up and toning. Without further ado, here's the finished painting:

I've been meaning to create a blog where I can post my art but have put it off and put it off. The time has come. In the next few weeks I will be customizing this space and adding artwork. There's no artwork here yet but hopefully by Wednesday, August 10, I'll have something up for you to see.Ernie Hendrixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00910070163714342483noreply@blogger.com0
